Industrielle Herausforderung oder
Experiment?
Um die Entwicklungen rund um das Kartonmöbel
aufzeigen und verstehen zu können, ist es zunächst notwendig,
sowohl auf den geschichtlichen Werdegang des (Karton-) Möbels
als auch den des Werkstoffs näher einzugehen. Sinn und Zweck
aller Ein- und Seitenblicke ist es à priori, die Wechselwirkung
des Werkstoffs Karton in Bezug auf die Möbelfertigung
auszuloten. Weiters werden die wesentlichen gestaltbildenden Aspekte,
welche die sinnliche Wahrnehmung steuern, erläutert. Gedanken
über Preisbildung und Auflagezahlen stellen
den Einstieg in die zwiespältig zu betrachtende Welt der
Produktion dar. Basiskenntnisse über die Produktionsverfahren
sind an dieser Stelle unumgänglich, denn die Anpassung an
die Gerätschaft der Verpackungstechnologie verlangt nach
dem Wissen über deren Produktionsparameter. Einerseits wird
die standardmäßige industrielle Fertigung in Form von
Steck- und Faltmöbeln erörtert. Andererseits wird anhand
einer Weiterentwicklung experimenteller Erscheinungsformen aufgezeigt,
welche Bandbreite insgesamt denkbar wäre. Fragen der Nachbearbeitung
verbinden schließlich die beiden vorerst getrennten Wege
wieder miteinander.
Summary
In order to demonstrate and to be able to understand
the development in the field of cardboard furniture we will necessarily
have to take a close look at the historical evolution of the (cardboard-)
furniture as well as at the material as such. Essence and purpose
of any insight or side-glance surely first will be directed at
spotting the correlations of the raw material cardboard with regard
to furniture manufacturing. Concerning university-projects the
main sense of working with cardboard lies in its pedagogic nature.
Improvements can be accomplished by dealing with the real prototype
thus providing the 1:1 model with a clearly distinguishable significance.
The prototype and the final execution become practically interchangeable.
In terms of production stage of studentís furniture designs
synergistic effects deriving from the triangulated relation of
design-production-distribution will result, provided the specific
inputs are clearly defined. Thorough sounding of the complete
market will be prove effective making due account of material
range, dimensions, standard types and special forms. Furthermore,
the major design-forming aspects influencing sensual perception
are enumerated. Reflections on price-formation and circulation
figures issue an insight into the conflicting world of production.
Basic knowledge on production procedures seems inevitable in this
respect as adjustments of equipment in view of packaging technology
call for knowledge on their production parameters. On the one
hand the standardized industrial manufacture of connective and
collapsible furniture is discussed. On the other hand experimental
forms featured in terms of their advanced development demonstrate
the entirety of conceivable range. Issues as to subsequent treatment
thus unite the divided branches again.
