   Information about Vienna and Austria

The Vienna University of Technology is one of the larger Universities in Austria and was founded in 1815. It is situated in the center of Vienna, at the Karlsplatz from where you can reach the famous Opera-House and the St. Stephens - Cathedral in walking distance.

The Karlsplatz itself is surrounded by some culturally important buildings like the latebaroque St. Charles Borromeo church, the Musikverein (a concert hall) and the Künstlerhaus (showrooms and federation of educating artists), both buildings from the 2nd Half of the 19th Century. Also the Secession, an Art nouveau building with exhibitions of modern art, is situated at the Karlsplatz.
